Why A Level uses a different formula
Cambridge A Levels don't map onto a Pakistani percentage on their own, so NUST relies on the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) to convert your O Level and A Level grades into a single equivalence percentage. That percentage replaces the separate Matric (10%) and FSc Part 1 (15%) components used by local board students, and is weighted at 25% the same combined total.
The formula is: Aggregate = (IBCC equivalence % × 25%) + (NET score/200 × 75%). NET still dominates the outcome, so a strong entry test score matters just as much for A Level applicants as it does for FSc students.
Getting your IBCC equivalence certificate
Apply for equivalence through the IBCC as soon as your final A Level results are out. The certificate converts your best combination of O Level and A Level subjects into a percentage using IBCC's published conversion tables, which weight A Level grades more heavily than O Level grades in the final figure.
If your final equivalence certificate isn't ready by the NUST application deadline, use your predicted grades or a provisional equivalence estimate in the calculator to get a working number, then update it once the official certificate is issued.
