NUST Closing Merit by Programme
The aggregate needed to secure a seat varies enormously by programme and campus, and shifts every year. Here's how to read historical trends without over relying on a single past number.
Why there's no single official cut off
NUST does not publish a fixed minimum aggregate for admission overall the aggregate at which a programme's merit list "closes" depends entirely on how many seats are available that year and how strong the applicant pool sitting NET happens to be. A closing aggregate from two years ago is a rough guide at best, not a guarantee.
General competitiveness pattern
Based on consistent year over year demand, the general pattern across NUST's programmes tends to run roughly as follows, from most to least competitive:
- Computer Science & Software Engineering (SEECS)
- Electrical Engineering (SEECS)
- Mechanical, Chemical & Civil Engineering (SMME, SCME, SCEE)
- Business (NBS) and Architecture (CAE)
- Applied Sciences, Mathematics and Social Sciences (ASAB, MCS, S3H)
This ordering is directional, not a guarantee for any specific year always check the current cycle's official closing merit once lists are released, and treat older figures you find elsewhere online with caution unless they're explicitly dated.
How to use this while deciding where to apply
List your programme and campus choices in genuine order of preference rather than only chasing the "safest" option, since NUST's multi round list system (see the merit list guide) means a lower ranked preference can still come through in a later round.
