COMPARE
NUST vs UET Which Should You Choose?
UET Lahore uses ECAT with a very different weightage split than NUST's NET heavy formula the aggregate math alone can favour one over the other depending on your profile.
Aggregate formula: the key difference
| Component | NUST (NET) | UET (ECAT) |
|---|---|---|
| Matric | 10% | 17% |
| FSc | 15% | 50% |
| Entry test | 75% | 33% |
This matters a lot in practice: a student with a strong FSc percentage but an average entry test score is relatively better positioned for UET's formula, while a student who tests exceptionally well on the entry test but has a merely solid board result is relatively better positioned for NUST's NET heavy formula.
Scope: national vs provincial
NUST admits students nationally across all provinces to a single national merit pool per programme, while UET Lahore primarily serves Punjab based admissions with its own provincial quota considerations, which can affect how competitive a given aggregate actually is depending on where you're applying from.
Deciding which to prioritise in your prep
If your FSc percentage is already strong and NET prep time is limited, UET's ECAT style formula may be the more forgiving path. If you test well under exam conditions, doubling down on NET preparation is likely to move your NUST aggregate more than the same effort would move a UET aggregate.
